Who can join this course

This is a higher level course for students interested in producing higher level finishing on their garments, not for the beginner to the subject. There is an expectation you will know how to use a pattern, sew seams, add zips but want to be taught how to do this professionally.

Is this course for me

This course is not for a beginner to the subject but for students who have taken the Level 1 course and have experience in garment making and know how to cut out a pattern.

Course aims

By the end of the course you should be able to:

* Demonstrate how to attach and press a collar using facing
* Demonstrate how to press flat and curved seams, turned out corners and reduce ease
* Demonstrate how to use 2 different techniques to finish a hem
* Critically evaluate your choice of materials, tools and techniques through a group or individual processes
* Explain the health and safety considerations for all resources and tools used

It is a good idea to have your own sewing machine and its instruction so you are used to how it works but we do have machines at the centre you can use. You will need to provide your own material and patterns and some basic equipment such as a good pair of cutting scissors and a sewing kit.
