Who can join this course

Anyone who has woven before and would like to improve their setting up skills and complete a weave during the length of the course. It is not a course for a beginner, as although the student will set the loom up as part of the project there is an expectation of understanding of how to set up a loom.

By empowering our students to become confident, imaginative, and adaptable learners, we aim to develop students' curiosity, resilience, and adaptability, preparing them for future challenges, opportunities, and personal development.

For students who would like to continue to weave and improve their understanding of how to trouble shoot setting up a loom.

Course aims

By the end of the course you should be able to:

* Design and complete an individual weaving project from planning to finishing
* Prepare and set up a loom independently for a weaving project
* Learn to combine weave, yarn and sett to achieve the desired outcome
* Demonstrate understanding of weaving terminology, tools, and techniques
* Identify and troubleshoot common weaving issues during setup and weaving
* Explain the health and safety considerations for all resources and tools used

Please bring along a notebook and pen for notetaking during the whole course.

This course is scheduled to not be running on the following dates:

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.
