Family Learning This Easter

Fun, Creativity and Discovery for the Whole Family

The Easter holidays are the perfect time for families to slow down, reconnect and enjoy meaningful moments together. With schools on break and spring in the air, parents, grandparents and children are often looking for activities that feel special - something more than the usual days out and screen-time routines.

This year, Kent Adult Education is offering a fantastic programme of FREE Family Learning sessions designed to do exactly that. These sessions bring families together through hands-on creativity, outdoor adventure, and shared discovery. With workshops suitable for children aged 3-11, the Easter Family Learning programme provides opportunities for bonding, learning new skills and creating memories that last long after the holiday ends.

From colourful crafting to bug hunting and high-flying kite fun, these free sessions are thoughtfully designed to strengthen family relationships while inspiring curiosity and imagination. Here's a closer look at what families can look forward to this Easter.

Why Family Learning Matters

Family Learning isn't simply a set of activities - it's an approach to shared education that recognises the powerful impact of learning side-by-side. When adults and children collaborate, explore and overcome small challenges together, the experience can strengthen confidence, communication and emotional connection.

For children, Family Learning sessions help build resilience, social skills and creativity. For adults, they offer moments of joy, reconnection with playfulness and fresh ideas for supporting learning at home. And for everyone involved, they create shared memories that become treasured family stories.

This Easter, Kent Adult Education is offering a trio of magical sessions that capture the spirit of curiosity and creativity: Seasonal Crafts, Kite Making and a family favourite - Bug Hunt.

Suitable for children aged 3-11; it offers a warm, welcoming environment where adults and children can relax, create and learn side-by-side.

What Families Can Expect

During the session, participants will work together to create a variety of beautiful craft items using safe, child-friendly materials. Experienced tutors guide families step-by-step, helping inspire creativity while giving children the freedom to express themselves. Most importantly, everything made in the session can be taken home- providing joyful reminders of time spent together.

Seasonal Crafts is more than just a workshop. It's a space where families bond, celebrate creativity, and enjoy the simple magic of making something by hand.

Kite Making: A High-Flying Family Adventure

If you're looking for an Easter activity that brings energy, teamwork and outdoor excitement the Kite Making workshop is the perfect choice. Designed for families with children aged 3-11, this session combines creativity with engineering - and ends with the thrill of watching your handmade kite soar through the sky.

Build, Decorate, Fly

In this interactive workshop, families collaborate to design and build their own kites from scratch. Tutors guide participants through the process step-by-step, ensuring the kites are both sturdy and beautifully decorated. Children can unleash their imaginations through colours, patterns and drawings, turning each kite into a unique piece of flying artwork.

Once complete, and weather permitting, the fun moves outdoors. There's nothing quite like the moment a child watches a kite they made rise into the air - an experience full of pride, wonder and excitement.

More Than Just Fun

Kite Making is a brilliant way to nurture:

  • Teamwork - adults and children work together towards a shared goal
  • Creativity - from design to decoration
  • Problem-solving - adjusting the kite for balance and flight
  • Outdoor exploration - encouraging families to enjoy the fresh air and movement

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and seasoned kite flyers. You don't need any experience - just enthusiasm, cooperation and a little Easter-holiday energy!

  • Boost confidence
  • Strengthen communication
  • Spark curiosity
  • Enjoy fresh air and exploration
