Who can join this course

HK BN(O) courses are available for those holding British National Overseas passports only. The courses draw down from every eligible person's £850 government funding in every financial year.
Before enrolling on an HK BN(O) ESOL course you will need to complete an initial assessment. Please book an interview at your local centre.
If your fees exceed the £850 allowance, we will charge the excess. We make every effort to keep our prices as low as possible and therefore regret that we cannot return payments to students who withdraw from a course.
When you enrol, please understand that you are agreeing to pay the total price for the whole course, including all outstanding balances should you withdraw. No concessions or discounts are available for HK BN(O) courses.

Course aims

By the end of the course you should be able to:

* Be able to understand and use functional English use in social contexts
* Be able to understand and use functional English use in work contexts
* Be able to understand and use functional English use in the home

Please bring a pen, notebook and an A4 folder to each lesson.
If you are studying online, you will need secure internet connection, a laptop, tablet or PC. We do not recommend using a phone to attend online due to limited functionality.

You can progress onto a further qualification, although if the government support is used up, you might need to pay. Talk to your tutor when the course is coming to an end.

Assessment is needed before joining this course. Please contact your local centre to complete an application.

As part of your funding agreement, you must attend at least 85% of your lessons, complete any required self study and all necessary qualifications you are enrolled on. You may be withdrawn if you do not attend regularly. If you have a pre arranged commitment booked during term time, please contact your tutor to catch up on any missed work.

You will be given information about exams at assessment and by your tutor.
