Who can join this course

If English isn't your first language, and you want to improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills for maths, this course will give you the support you need.

Is this course for me

This course aims to develop an understanding of the roles and services provided by the local council. It will support learners in navigating and accessing local services effectively. In addition, the course encourages active participation in community life by raising awareness of opportunities for employment and volunteering. Through this engagement, learners will be supported in building independence and confidence within their local community.

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.

Assessment is needed before joining this course. Please contact your local centre to complete an application. For Assessment please contact the centre.

This course is free.

As part of your funding agreement, you must attend at least 85% of your lessons, complete any required self study and all necessary qualifications you are enrolled on. You may be withdrawn if you do not attend regularly. If you have a pre arranged commitment booked during term time, please contact your tutor to catch up on any missed work.
