Who can join this course

This course is aimed at those who have completed several Beginners or Improver Bookbinding courses or have previous experience of working in Bookbinding and have an interest in progressing their chosen subject in a vocational direction.

It is not a course for a beginner to the subject.

Work Skills/Vocational courses are designed as an introduction into the professional practice needed to progress in a Creative discipline.

They are the perfect vocational course for anyone looking to take the first steps in starting a career or progressing onto further work skills or accredited courses.

The focus of this course is to work on foundational skills and hone these to a high enough standard to potentially work in this field in the future.

Course aims

By the end of the course you should be able to:

* Demonstrate the correct assessment of damage to cloth and leather-bound books and make appropriate adjustments when rebinding
* Make end papers relevant to the binding of the book to enhance the book's finishing
* Demonstrate proficiency in paring leather
* Explain the health and safety considerations for all resources and tools used

Please bring a notepad and pen/pencil to your first lesson.

If you do have equipment appropriate to the subject, please bring it.

This course is scheduled to not be running on the following dates:
