Enrolment Residency Eligibility
All our courses are funded by the Department for Education (DfE), Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) or the Greater London Authority (GLA - if you live in the London area) and are free to eligible learners.
To be eligible to enrol and attend courses funded by the DfE, DWP or GLA, you must have lawful permission to reside in the UK for the whole period of your learning and be ordinarily resident in the UK at the course start date.
All learners are required to confirm their residency status to us before enrolment.
British and Irish citizens are required to self-declare* their status during the enrolment process.
*This is a self-declaration, but we may ask you to provide us with documentary evidence of your British or Irish citizenship after enrolment. If we are unable to confirm your eligibility, your enrolment will be cancelled, and you will be unable to continue attending.
Learners who do not hold British or Irish citizenship will be required to provide additional evidence of their legal residency status before enrolment. You will be required to submit this information to us online using your Kent Adult Education Learner Portal account.
What type of evidence or information do you require?
We will ask you to provide us with a share code to access your e-visa, the name of the visa your family member holds (if you are here in the UK on a dependent, spouse or partner visa) or photographic evidence of your active claim for asylum and dated confirmation you have lived in the UK for at least 6 months.
Please note that you will only be able to enrol on courses that finish before the end date of your current visa.
You will be required to provide your residency eligibility every time you extend your visa.
How do I submit evidence of my legal residency status to you?
You will need to log into your Kent Adult Education Learner Portal account to submit residency evidence.

What will happen after I have submitted my residency evidence?
One of our team will check the details of your immigration status on your e-visa or uploaded documents to ensure they meet Department for Education (DfE), Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Greater London Authority (GLA) requirements for enrolment.
You will receive an email as soon as your residency check has been completed.
This email will contain a link for you to log into your KAE Learner Portal account and view the outcome of our check.
Emails will be sent from our noreply-kaecls-enrolmenteligibility@kent.gov.uk address.
If your residency details have been approved, you will then be able to enrol onto courses with us (including via our website if the course does not require a pre-enrolment interview).
My e-visa shows a 'Valid To' (expiry date)
If your e-visa shows a 'Valid To' (expiry date), you may be approved for enrolment, but for a limited period. This will be dependent on the type of e-visa status you hold.
Our system will check that your approval end date covers up to the planned end date of your chosen course when you enrol. You will be required to provide your residency eligibility every time you extend your visa.
You will be unable to enrol on any learning planned to end after your approval end date unless you can provide us with additional documentation to show you have applied to the Home Office (directly or through a solicitor) for an extension to your e-visa.

Exclusions
