Who can join this course

Online AQA GCSE maths courses are funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and are FREE to eligible learners.
GCSE maths is FREE for those who don't already have GCSE maths at grade C/4 or above.

To be eligible to enrol and attend our courses you must have lawful permission to reside in the UK and be ordinarily resident in the UK at the course start date.
Dependent on your individual circumstances, you may be required to show evidence of your residency status before you can enrol and attend courses with us.

Acceptance
on a KAE Skills GCSE maths course does not constitute an immigration sponsorship and no Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) certificate will be issued.

Before enrolling on a GCSE maths course you will need to complete an initial assessment. Please book an assessment at your local centre.

Is this course for me

If you are seeking employment or career advancement, wishing to help your children with school work or just looking for a new challenge, GCSE maths could be for you. Teaching and learning are delivered through real time lessons, discussion, group work, and supported by online resources. Please note GCSE maths will require 4-6 hours of self study each week.

Course aims

By the end of the course you should be able to:

* Be able to develop fluent knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical methods and concepts
* Be able to acquire, select and apply mathematical techniques to solve problems
* Be able to reason mathematically, make deductions and inferences and draw conclusions
* Be able to comprehend, interpret and communicate mathematical information in a variety of forms appropriate to the information and context

Please bring a pen, notebook and an A4 folder to each lesson.
If you are studying online, you will need secure internet connection, a laptop, tablet or PC. We do not recommend using a phone to attend online due to limited functionality.

You can progress onto A level maths or higher level study with Kent Adult Education or other learning providers.

Assessment is needed before joining this course. Please contact your local centre to complete an application. Please note there are 3 face to face Saturday sessions as part of the course which will take place at Ashford Gateway. Your tutor will confirm these dates with you at the start of the course.

As part of your funding agreement, you must attend at least 85% of your lessons, complete any required self study and all necessary qualifications you are enrolled on. You may be withdrawn if you do not attend regularly. If you have a pre arranged commitment booked during term time, please contact your tutor to catch up on any missed work.

You will be given information about exams at assessment and by your tutor.
