Who can join this course

This course is for anyone who would like a higher level experience of printmaking, it is not for the beginner to the subject. The course will encourage you to experiment with your printmaking practice and explore why and how to improve your printing through exploration of the technique.

Is this course for me

This is not a course for a beginner to the subject but for students who want to continue printmaking with an experienced tutor who can support their printmaking.

Course aims

By the end of the course you should be able to:

* Identify and critically compare approaches to dry point printing
* Produce at least 4 one colour prints using the dry point Etching printing technique
* Critically evaluate your choice of materials, tools and techniques through a group or individual processes
* Explain the health and safety considerations for all resources and tools used

You will need to make sure you have an apron or overall as printing is a messy artform. The inks for the course will be provided but any specialist papers and plates will need to be provided by the student. The centre does have a selection of small plates students can buy but not all sizes.

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.

To get the most out of your course we recommend you attend at least 85% of your sessions. If you do have a pre-arranged commitments booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcome.
