Welcome to "Cooking on a Budget" - an engaging course designed to inspire families to explore new culinary ideas and eat healthily without breaking the bank.

In this fun and practical program, families will embark on a culinary journey together, learning how to plan, prepare, and cook a variety of delicious and nutritious meals on a budget. Throughout the course, learners will discover practical tips and tricks for stretching their food budget while still enjoying tasty and wholesome meals.

From meal planning to smart shopping strategies, families will learn how to make the most of their resources without sacrificing flavour or nutrition. In each session, families will have the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and get hands-on in the kitchen, preparing and cooking a range of budget-friendly dishes. At the end of each session, everyone will come together to taste their creations, with a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment in cooking together as a family.

"Cooking on a Budget" is not just about food - it's also an opportunity to build confidence in cooking skills and brush up on practical maths and English skills in a fun and interactive way.

Suitable for families with children aged 3 - 11, this course provides a valuable learning experience for the whole family.

Additional Information

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.

Assessment is needed before joining this course. Please contact your local centre to complete an application.

To get the most out of your course we recommend you attend at least 85% of your sessions. If you do have a pre-arranged commitments booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcome.
