Who can join this course

This course is designed for adults who want to develop their creative writing skills through blogging, as a versatile and engaging form of storytelling.
You’ll learn how to generate ideas, craft engaging posts, and develop a consistent voice that reflects your personality or brand. The course will also cover writing for online audiences, structuring posts effectively, using images and multimedia, and understanding the basics of blogging platforms. Through guided exercises and supportive feedback, learners will build the skills needed to write confidently and connect with readers in a digital space.

Course aims

By the end of the course you should be able to:

* Learn how to generate and develop engaging blog post ideas
* Practise writing posts that are clear, compelling, and suited to an online audience
* Explore ways to use images, titles, and formatting to enhance readability
* Learn basic strategies for editing, proofreading, and publishing blog content

You will also be asked to think of Personal Aims to individualise your learning experience, as well as another benefits the course may have.

Please bring a notepad and pen/pencil to your first lesson.
Unless otherwise stated, you will be advised in your first class what resources you will need. If you do have equipment appropriate to the subject, please bring them.

Your tutor will advise you on follow-on courses relevant to their subject.
You can attend further Beginners courses which will cover additional skills at Beginners’ level and use those you have already learned in different ways to help perfect them or progress to Improvers courses.

This course is scheduled to not be running on the following dates:

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.

To get the most out of your course we recommend you attend at least 85% of your sessions. If you do have a pre-arranged commitments booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcome.

For Health & Safety, please do not wear open toed shoes.

It is important to note that art and craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. Also, please make your tutor aware of any pre-existing health conditions that may impact on your learning.
