You must meet the entry requirements below:
- You must be ordinary resident in the UK at the start date of the course - Ordinary resident means you live in the UK and have chosen to live here for a settled purpose
- You must be a British citizen
- You must be aged 19 or over as at the 31st August 2025 for courses in the 2025/26 academic year
- You must agree to commit to and complete an Individual Learning Plan in agreement with your course tutor
Who can join this course
This course is designed for adults who want to explore the art of both fiction and non-fiction writing, wanting to practice creating imaginative stories or crafting true-to-life narratives.
Through practical exercises, reading examples, and guided feedback, learners will experiment with writing in both genres, developing skills in storytelling, structure, tone, and research. By the end of the course, you’ll have a clearer sense of your writing preferences and the tools to develop your chosen style further.

Work Skills/Vocational courses are designed as an introduction into the professional practice needed to progress in a Creative discipline. They are the perfect vocational course for anyone looking to take the first steps in starting a career or progressing onto further work skills or accredited courses. The focus of this course is to work on foundational skills and hone these to a high enough standard to potentially work in this field in the future. As part of this course, there is an expectation that you will attend an online session by the National Careers Service.
