Who can join this course

This course will provide a broad introduction to digital photography and is for anyone who is really unsure about where to start with a digital camera and would like to use something other than their camera phone to take photos and improve their picture taking.

To maximise individual teaching, numbers will be limited on this course.

Is this course for me

This short course is for anyone starting on their photography journey to create better images to use for personal and business purposes.

Course aims

By the end of the course you should be able to:

* Identify at least 6 parts of your camera
* Identify at least 3 automatic settings and describe when they can be used
* Explain the health and safety considerations for all resources and tools used

You will also be asked to think of Personal Aims to individualise your learning experience, as well as another benefits the course may have.

What will I need for my course

You will need to bring a notebook and pen and a digital camera if you have one. You can talk to the tutor the first session about the best camera for your needs.

Additional Information

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.

To get the most out of your course we recommend you attend at least 85% of your sessions. If you do have a pre-arranged commitments booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcome.
