Who can join this course

This course is open to adults of all ages who are looking for a gentle introduction to fitness. It’s ideal for those who may be returning to exercise after a break, recovering from injury, or simply seeking a low-impact way to stay active. Pregnant students are welcome to join from 16 weeks onward. If you have a disability or any condition that may affect your learning or participation, please speak to us in confidence. We are committed to making reasonable adjustments and providing the support you need to enjoy and benefit from the course.

If you have ever felt intimidated by high-intensity workouts or fast-paced fitness classes, this course offers a welcoming alternative. It is perfect for beginners or anyone who values a slower, more mindful approach to movement.
Whether your goal is to improve flexibility, build strength, or simply feel better in your body, this course provides a safe and supportive space to start your journey.
You will be encouraged to listen to your body, take breaks when needed, and celebrate your progress at every step.

Course aims

By the end of the course you should be able to:

* Recognise and understand basic movements and their benefits for joint health and mobility
* Apply simple strength and endurance exercises in a safe and effective manner
* Promote cardiovascular health with light aerobic activities
* Foster mental well-being and confidence through a positive and inclusive environment
* encourage long-term fitness habits by making exercise enjoyable and sustainable

You will also be asked to think of Personal Aims to individualise your learning experience, as well as another benefits the course may have.

Additional Information

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.

To get the most out of your course we recommend you attend at least 85% of your sessions. If you do have a pre-arranged commitments booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcome.
