Who can join this course

It is for those with an interest in colour and design in the home, it could also lead into employment on satisfactory completion of the certificate.
This course is suitable for beginners but those with some experience may find the course more useful. There is a link contained in the Addtional Information box to be able to apply to join the course. A member of the Curriculum Team will contact you after completing the form to talk through your experiences relating to Interior Design.

Is this course for me

This course will focus on drawing elevation plans, creating swatch boards, producing costings as well as researching into paint, textiles. lighting and design materials.
You will study some basic design principles such as colour, line, shape, form & texture.

The course is accredited by continuous assessment and requires commitment to the work as well as allowing at least one day a week to work on tasks at home.

* Demonstrate an understanding of Health and Safety relevant to the subject
* This certificate is made up of the following awards:-
* 7157 - 201 Developing Design Ideas
* 7157 - 202 Sampling - Design Ideas
* 7157 - 212 Home Office
* 7157 - 213 Bedroom with en-suite

You will also be asked to think of Personal Aims to individualise your learning experience, as well as other benefits the course may have.

As part of the enrolment process for this course, and before your place can be confirmed, please complete the City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate Interior Design Application. Be sure to answer all questions and provide as much relevant information as possible in each section.

City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate Application – INTERIOR DESIGN

Please bring a notepad and pen/pencil to your first lesson.
Unless otherwise stated, you will be advised in your first class what resources you will need. If you do have equipment appropriate to the subject, please bring them.

Your tutor will advise you on follow-on courses relevant to their subject.
You can also attend Vocational or Accredited courses in a range of the Creative subjects on offer.

It is essential that you attend all sessions to achieve the full qualification. Please ensure you inform the Tutor promptly if you are unable to attend.

It is important to note that art and craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity.
Also, please make your tutor aware of any pre-existing health conditions that may impact on your learning. If you need to bring a carer with you, or another adult please speak to the Curriculum Leader for the course.
