Who can join this course

This course is for learners who are preparing for the Intensive GCSE English language course starting in January 2026 with Kent Adult Education.

Is this course for me

If you have passed the initial assessment for the Intensive GCSE English and are planning to enrol on the course starting in January 2026 with Kent Adult Education, you will be offered a preparation course in November. This short course takes places Monday and Tuesday evenings online. You will focus on writing and technical accuracy as well as general exam techniques. The preparation for the Intensive GCSE English language course will help you to develop effective study techniques to apply to the course in January. Full attendance and self study are requirements for both the preparation and main Intensive GCSE English language courses.

This course is scheduled to have multiple sessions each week:

  • Monday 18:00 - 20:30
  • Tuesday 18:00 - 20:30

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.

Assessment is needed before joining this course. Please contact your local centre to complete an application.

To get the most out of your course we recommend you attend at least 85% of your sessions. If you do have a pre-arranged commitments booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcome.
