Response Courses

Response is a programme within Kent Adult Education working with a range of partners including community groups, charities and other organisations to provide work-related short courses designed to help you gain employment, become a successful volunteer or to restart your journey into further learning.

Choose from accredited courses such as Food Safety and First Aid, Health and Safety and COSHH or an introductory course such as Introduction to Customer Service or Health and Social Care which will help you develop skills relevant to specific areas or work and give you the chance to get a taste for what’s ahead.

The purpose of all the courses is to develop skills and knowledge to help you progress in life. Individuals successfully completing these courses will feel increased confidence and motivation.

Further courses are constantly under development in response to community need.

Pathway towards employment

Our pathway towards employment courses are for those working in catering, bars or front of house.

Pathway to a CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Green Labourers’ card

Our Level 1 course in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment will help construction workers show that they can be safe on the job and can then go on to apply for the CSCS Labourer’s card.

Mental health issues are well known as a barrier to learning and employment. In these courses we look at the meaning of mental health, identify challenges and explore the process of keeping well through mindfulness and movement.

Do I qualify?

Response courses are free of charge to those who are over 19 years of age, unwaged or low-waged and looking to use the course to increase their prospects of employment, volunteering or to restart their learning. Courses are funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency.
