Who can join this course

You will need to have completed a Counselling Studies Level 3 qualification with CPCAB or an equivalent accrediting body.

Is this course for me

This course is delivered online live via Zoom.

The course will run during one Saturday and is designed for students who have completed Level 3 but are having a break before commencing a Level 4 Diploma to become a qualified counsellor. It will enable students to keep their learning and skills up-to-date and be fully ready for applying for a Level 4 course.

The course will comprise of a review of the material covered in Level 3 and a consolidation of counselling skills. A main component of the course will be skills practice sessions with an opportunity to work in supervision groups to process your personal skills development. The course will also cover preparation for interviews.

There is no requirement for extra self-study beyond attendance on the course.

Course aims

By the end of the course you should be able to:

* Revisit and consolidate key counselling theories and models from Level 3, reflecting on their practical application
* Refresh and strengthen core counselling skills through structured practice sessions and peer feedback
* Enhance reflective practice and self-awareness by engaging in supervision-style group discussions and identifying personal development needs
* Prepare effectively for Level 4 course entry by understanding course expectations and practicing interview techniques
* Reconnect with the counselling community by sharing experiences, insights, and building peer support networks

Additional Information

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.

To get the most out of your course we recommend you attend at least 85% of your sessions. If you do have a pre-arranged commitments booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcome.
