Our Tailored learning taster sessions are funded by the Department for Education (DFE) and are open to anyone who has not attended a course with us in the past 3 years.

Is this course for me

Welcome to our Language Taster Course!
This introductory session is designed to help you discover your current language proficiency and determine the best course to suit your learning needs.
During this taster, you will have the opportunity to:

Assess Your Level: Engage in activities that will help us understand your current language skills and recommend the most suitable course for you.
Introduction Skills: Learn how to introduce yourself confidently in various situations, whether meeting new people, attending social gatherings, or participating in professional settings.
Basic Everyday Phrases: Practice asking and responding to simple, useful sentences that are essential for daily interactions, such as ordering food, asking for directions, and making small talk.

What will I need for my course

Materials Provided:

Handouts: Printed materials with key phrases, vocabulary, and basic grammar rules will be given in class or emailed if the course is online.
Audio Clips: Recordings to help you practice pronunciation and listening skills.
Interactive Exercises: Activities designed to reinforce what you've learned and assess your understanding.
Reference Sheets: Quick guides for common phrases and useful expressions for everyday situations.
Access to Online Resources: Links to additional practice materials and language learning tools.

Please bring your pen and paper to take notes during the session.

Additional Information

From 1st August 2024, the Department for Education (DfE) require that learners attending this course must identify their primary purpose for learning. This course is not available for learners whose main aim is to learn a hobby, or for leisure/pleasure.

To get the most out of your course we recommend you attend at least 85% of your sessions. If you do have a pre-arranged commitments booked during term time, please let the tutor know in advance so that we can help you catch up on missed sessions and ensure that you still achieve the course outcome.
