Design and create a beautiful fused glass wave. You will be supported by the tutor with ideas and inspiration for your design. Using clear glass for the base, you will use a variety of colours in transparent and opaque glass to create your design. Your glass will be fired and then slumped on a fusing mould to create the wave shape, to display your glass.
Learn how to cut shapes in glass and fit together to create your design using specialist glass tools to cut and alter the shape of your glass to fit your design, with the guidance of the tutor.
By the end of the course you will be able to -
Demonstrate how to cut glass in straight lines and curves.
Explain how to use specialist glass tools to alter the shape of a piece of glass.
Demonstrate how to measure the glass to correctly to fit the slumping mould.
Assemble your glass to create your design.
Explain the health and safety considerations for the tools and materials you have used.

How will I be taught?
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods and resources during the course which will include the following:
• Practical demonstrations, these will be both group and individual
• Showing samples of previously completed projects, looking at work of other craftspeople and artists
• One to one guidance and tuition
• Group discussions and critiques
• Question and answer sessions
Your tutor will continuously check your progress and you will receive feedback and support during the course.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring with you:
A pencil and sketchbook.
All glass fusing matierials will be provided.
Any design ideas you have found for inspiration.
Health and Safety:
You must wear closed toe shoes.
All masks, gloves and ear defenders will be supplied if required.
Drinks are not permitted in the studio due to the possible risk of contamination.

What do I need to join the course
Everyone is welcome, but some previous experience of glass cutting is useful.
As this is a practical course, a degree of manual dexterity is required.
