A Day of Glass Fusing - Seascape Panel - Beginners Plus

Design and create a unique fused glass panel in a seascape design. Using clear glass for the base, you will then use various colours of transparent and opaque glass to create your design. You will explore creating layers and depth, using paint and fusing accessories to enhance the design.
Learn how to cut shapes in glass and fit together to create your design using specialist glass tools to cut and alter the shape of your glass with the guidance of the tutor.

By the end of the course you will be able to -

Explain the considerations when creating layers and texture in a glass project.

Demonstrate the correct use of glass cutting tools to create curve shapes in glass.

Identify glass fusing accessories and the effects achievable with different firing temperatures.

Demonstrate how to correctly apply glass paint to your design.

Explain the health and safety considerations for the tools and materials you have used.


How will I be taught?

The tutor will use a range of teaching methods and resources during the course which will include the following:

• Practical demonstrations, these will be both group and individual
• Showing samples of previously completed projects, looking at work of other craftspeople and artists
• One to one guidance and tuition
• Group discussions and critiques
• Question and answer sessions

Your tutor will continuously check your progress and you will receive feedback and support during the course.





What do I need to bring with me?

Please bring with you -

A pencil and sketchbook.
One piece of 30 x 20cm 3mm Clear Fusing glass. This can be Oceanside 96 Icicle Clear base or Bullseye Tekta.
You may wish to bring any fusing glass or fusing accessories you have if you have previously attended a course and any glass tools you have.

Any design ideas you have found for inspiration.

Health and Safety:
You must wear closed toe shoes.
All masks, gloves and ear defenders will be supplied if required.
Drinks are not permitted in the studio due to the possible risk of contamination.

What do I need to join the course

This course is not suitable for complete beginners, you will need to be confident cutting glass already.

As this is a practical course, a degree of manual dexterity is required.
