Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Alison Le Fevre
How will I be taught?
Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstration, instructions, one-to-one tutorial guidance, group discussions and critiques. Students will be encouraged to look at the work of other craftspeople and artists, both contemporary and historical and keep a sketchbook/ notebook to record goals/ ideas, processes and progress. It is important to note that craft courses are practical, requiring a degree of manual dexterity. Our courses are taught by qualified and experienced tutors most of whom are practising craftspeople.
Your tutor will give you individual feedback throughout the course.
What do I need to bring with me?
You will need to meet the cost of their materials and these will be costed by weight depending on the prices at the time of the course. You can bring along beads and other objects that you may want to include in your jewellery. You will need an A4 sketchbook, pencil and pen for ideas and notes and a protective apron or overall. Tools are available at the centre although you might like to buy your own after consulting with the tutor. You will be required to wear protective goggles for some techniques. Basic goggles are available at the centre but for clarity students are advised to purchase their own.
What can I do next?
During your course, your tutor will offer guidance in your personal progression route.
Kent Adult Education web site offers many courses for students wishing to develop a self-employed business. Please speak with your tutor if you have an interest in self-employment or an interest in developing career options in this chosen path.
