Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Paul Jarvis
How will I be taught?
Craft courses provide an opportunity for students to learn and develop skills, techniques and understand how to design for a chosen craft to a higher level. You will be encouraged to look at the work of other craftspeople and artists, both contemporary and historical and keep a sketchbook/ notebook to record goals/ ideas, processes and progress. There will be one to one guidance, group critiques and self-assessment against individualised learning outcomes stated on the ILP, Individual Learning Plan.
Our courses are taught by qualified and experienced tutors most of whom are practising craftspeople.
What do I need to bring with me?
Books to work on, materials and some small hand tools. Apart from pens and a note pad please do not buy books or equipment before the start of your course. Details will be discussed at the first session or if necessary your tutor will send a list a week before the course starts. There are a large selection of hand tools to get your started in the studio.
What can I do next?
During your course, your tutor will offer guidance in your personal progression route.
Kent Adult Education web site offers many courses for students wishing to develop a self-employed business. Please speak with your tutor if you have an interest in self-employment or an interest in developing career options in this chosen path.
What do I need to join the course
All students are welcome on this course who have an interest in Bookbinding as no experience of the subject is needed.
It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please ask to speak with the Curriculum Leader.
