This is a course to help you improve your English communication skills.
It will help you develop the skills to:
• understand the main points of straightforward instructions or public announcements
• deal with most of the situations you might meet when travelling as a tourist in an English-speaking country
• ask simple questions and take part in factual conversations in a work environment
• have conversations with people in many situations: school teachers, parents, doctor, dentist, barber, hairdresser etc.
• learn popular idiomatic expressions used in English to help you understand & participate when speaking with English-speaking people
• learn the meaning of and use correctly many phrasal verbs (unique to the English language) for example: I pick up my children from school at 3.15apm

How will I be taught?
The course will be taught in a friendly but focused atmosphere, where your individual needs are catered for. Your tutor will use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and ensure that you achieve your full potential. Teaching and learning are carried out through formally taught sessions, discussion, group work, and supported with role play, task sheets and resource books, home study, feedback and evaluation.
What do I need to bring with me?
Notebook, pens, pencils and a folder. Your tutor will advise at the first session.

What do I need to join the course
ESOL courses are available for those who have lived in the UK for at least three years. Other students are also welcome upon payment of an overseas fee. However, acceptance on a Skills ESOL course does not constitute an immigration sponsorship and no Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) certificate will be issued.
Before enrolling on an ESOL course you will need to complete an initial assessment. Please book an interview at your local centre.
