You will develop your skills in speaking and listening and you will work towards a Trinity Level 1/2 Speaking and Listening exam. You will develop formal presentation skills and learn how to make various types of formal requests. You will also develop debating skills and practise these skills by discussing important current issues and putting your ideas forward, for example, relating to the pros and cons of different scenarios.
Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Michelle Hyam
How will I be taught?
You will work on a variety of activities as a class and in small groups or pairs. This allows the tutor to attend to individual needs as well as to direct the learning of the group as a whole. Homework will be an essential part of the course.
An individual learning plan of work (ILP) is developed between you and the tutor. You will have tutorials with your tutor when you will be able to discuss your progress.
Additionally, your work will be regularly marked by your tutor who will give you oral/written feedback.
What do I need to bring with me?
Dictionary, ring binder for handouts and homework, paper and pen.
What can I do next?
Students may progress to ESOL Level 2 or FS. For further information, you can email us at: Skillscanterbury@kent.gov.uk
What do I need to join the course
ESOL courses are available for those who have lived in the UK for at least three years. Other students are also welcome upon payment of an overseas fee. However, acceptance on a KAE Skills ESOL course does not constitute an immigration sponsorship and no Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) certificate will be issued.
Before enrolling on an ESOL course you will need to complete an initial assessment. Please book an interview at your local centre.
We make every effort to keep our prices as low as possible and therefore regret that we cannot return payments to students who withdraw from a course. When you enrol, please understand that you are agreeing to pay the total price for the whole course, including all outstanding balances should you withdraw.
