French Intermediate Plus - Conversation - Summer Course

About the Tutor: Marjory Hardy King

Marjory is a native French speaker with a long experience of teaching.
Our Language tutors are either native speakers or have native-speaker fluency in the language they teach. They have specialist qualifications and experience in teaching a foreign language to adults and all have experience of living in the country of the language they teach.

The focus will be on oral communication (speaking and listening) and some reading and writing will also be included. Pronunciation and French culture are an integral part of the course. The course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. Learners will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play and games etc). Homework set will provide and opportunity for self study including the use of online resources., Initial assessment will be carried out at the beginning of the course to assess individual skill level. Each student starting point will be recorded on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and targets will be set. This will be revisited from time to time during the course to monitor and record progress. Tutors will mark homework and give written or verbal feedback.

The course book will be discussed at the first session if appropriate. Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts, although we advise students not to buy anything until after the first session.

During your course your tutor will offer guidance in relation to your personal progression route. Courses are designed to progress you to further study or into employment. Suitable for those who can converse fairly easily in predictable situation, or have done French to Intermediate Plus level and have the knowledge of the tenses and basic structure of the language and need fluency and conversation practice. Also for those who perhaps go to France quite often but would like the confidence to have conversations beyond the basic every day situation., If you did not attend the original course, you would still be welcome to attend., If you are unsure, please carry out our self-assessment test available on www.kentadulteducation.co.uk.
