By the end of the course students should be able to:
• Understand the history of childbirth and how Hypnobirthing has developed.
• Practice self-hypnosis, mindfulness and intentional relaxation, visualisation, affirmations etc to be able to calm the mind, focus inwards and switch off from external “noise”.
• Use the newly-learned calm to work with your body’s natural birthing skills, reduce anxiety and how to include their birthing partner
• Understand more about the body during childbirth and use this knowledge to prepare for the day of the birth.
• Use these new skills to improve confidence and wellbeing for life.

How will I be taught?

Your tutor will use a mixture of demonstration, verbal guidance, pair and group work and practical activities during the lessons. There will be time for you to ask questions and seek clarity and to share your experiences with your fellow students.

What do I need to bring with me?

You will need a notebook and pen each week. Your tutor may also ask you to bring in other items during specific weeks but these will not be expensive or difficult to source. You might like to bring a cushion or other resource to ensure your comfort whilst practising the relaxing exercises.

What can I do next?

During your course your tutor will offer guidance in relation to your personal progression route. Courses are designed to progress you to further study or into employment. In addition some of our courses support access to Further and Higher Education opportunities. KAE web site has information about these courses and developing your own business. Please speak with your tutor if you have an interest in self-employment or an interest in developing a career. We can also help you access the National Careers service.
