Interior Design Techniques- Bathroom and Kitchen Design- Level 1

This accredited course gives the opportunity for students with an interest in interior design to explore the design specific requirements of designing a kitchen and bathroom. Included in the course we will review the principles of interior design; colour theory; pattern; lighting; space planning and design specific sourcing.
The emphasis is on creativity and students will complete a design for a Kitchen and Bathroom. This will include the complete design process from initial concept through design, planning and costing together with an understanding of the design specific requirements for these areas.
Work will be continuously assessed with regular feedback from your tutor. A largely practical course, students have the opportunity to create functional, attractive designs and gain experience and confidence in creating successful design schemes.
Some homework is required, approximately 1 hour per week.
This course provides students with a insight into a career with interior design and specifically an understanding of the design considerations for these two areas.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:
Recognise and apply the principles of interior design to a Kitchen and Bathroom scheme
Apply colour theory to a design with consideration to longevity of a scheme
Create a basic lighting plan for the design understanding specific IEE regulations
Complete 1:20 cm floor and elevation drawings for your design
Demonstrate how to create a working mood board a
Source and identify products for your design specific for Kitchen and Bathroom Design
Complete and plan a schedule of installation
Design and create a complete scheme for a Kitchen and Bathroom
Explain health & safety considerations applicable to the design process
