This course will introduce Learners to the basics of drawing and painting through mixed media, developing your skills and confidence. For those with more experience, you will learn new techniques and improve your skills further. Learners will explore a variety of painting and drawing techniques and take inspiration from different artists and other sources to inform your work.
By the end of the course, you should be able to:
•Identify the appropriate drawing and painting media, materials and equipment.
•identify and demonstrate a variety of Drawing and Painting techniques .
•Identify and develop your creative ideas using research and experimentation to produce 2 finished pieces of Art works.
•Successfully review and evaluate your own work
•Research and evaluate the work of others to inform your own work and development
•Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines
There is no set ‘homework’, but you are welcome to practise and do further work at home.
There is no qualification for this course.
Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Christopher Bone
Christopher Bone MA Fine Art. Chris established a studio in Folkestone in 1985 and has since developed a reputation as an accomplished painter, exhibiting regular in Kent and London. He teaches the principles and techniques of drawing and painting in all mediums, making reference to the history of art as appropriate.
How will I be taught?
Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook and individual learning plan (ILP) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress. Students will need to understand the potential benefit from the programme of study, read and interpret ideas, communicate responses that are clear, logical and understandable and manage your own time. You will undertake critical reflection and evaluation and be motivated to develop creative skills and enhance/develop personal skills.
What do I need to bring with me?
If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound, and a variety of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
