This session will introduce you to the mental health benefits of sewing and help you switch off to the demands of everyday life.
By focusing on the meditative action of sewing and immersing yourself in the task, you can step away from the world for a while and it will leave you with a feeling of calm.
During the session you will enjoy relaxing hand sewing using natural resources, whilst also learning about the wellbeing benefits of essential oils and garden herbs which we will also incorporate into our project.
Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Tracy James
Tracy James is a fully qualified costumier and has worked in the West End on Lion King, Starlight Express and Beauty and the Beast, as well as the Royal Opera House for the Royal Ballet. Her work has taken her to Paris and Monte Carlo, working at their opera houses. She also has worked for Fortnum and Masons, Liberty and Selfridges on their specialised christmas windows. She is continually working on youth productions in the local area, as well as abroad in Dubai, whilst also making curtains, wedding dresses and alterations throughout the year.
How will I be taught?
Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring with you a basic sewing kit if you have one, however equipment and materials will be provided.
