A chance to try British Sign Language. Learn some basic fingerspelling and a few common phrases such as greetings and information about yourself.
This short one and a half hour course in Tunbridge Wells is designed to give students a chance to try British Sign Language out of general interest or before committing to a longer BSL course.
By the end of the course students will be able to:
- fingerspell names and places and demonstrate how fingerspelling can support signing
- meet and greet others and exchange simple personal information
- sign numbers up to 10
- use up to 10 simple signs within a simple conversation using BSL.

How will I be taught?
Fun activities to learn the basics in this short taster. Your tutor will give you feedback during the session and help you improve with careful correction.
What do I need to bring with me?
Nothing just a willingness to try something new.
What can I do next?
Students can progress to the Sign Language – Basics 14-week course or may alternatively wish to start on the Signature accreditation route to gain a nationally recognised qualification Signature Level 1 Award in British Sign Language.

During your course your tutor will offer guidance in relation to your personal progression route. Courses are designed to progress you to further study or into employment. What do I need to join the course
No previous experience required.
