Do you want to be able to speak Spanish at a basic level when visiting Spain?This classroom based Beginners Modular course will help you to speak Spanish at a basic level. You can start with either Module A or B. Module C reinforces the language covered in the other modules and therefore is not for complete beginners. You can join Module C if you have some basic previous knowledge (around 40h of study).This is an opportunity to practise speaking Spanish and develop your language and vocabulary face to face with your tutor and other students.By the end of Module C you will have:• Developed vocabulary on food/drink, directions and shopping• Start to express an opinion• Improve accuracy through oral practice of the topics* Have a better pronunciation. Basic grammar will be studied. You will learn to use expressions and forms appropriate to the language using verbs at present tense, gender, prepositions and adjectives. You may be given homework (1 hr max) each week to reinforce classroom learning.

How will I be taught?

This course will be delivered online. Students will join the class from home and be able to exchange and in interact with other learners as they would in the classroom (speaking, listening, writing in the chat box). This measure is dictated by circumstances and the course will be delivered back in the classroom as soon as possible. The focus will be on speaking and listening. Some reading and writing will also be included. Pronunciation and Hispanic culture are an integral part of the course. The course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. Learners will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play and games etc). Homework set will provide an opportunity for self-study.Initial assessment will be carried out at the beginning of the course to assess individual skill level. Each student' starting point will be recorded on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to set targets. This will be revisited regularly during the course to monitor and record your progress. Tutors will give written or verbal feedback.

What do I need to bring with me?

The course book will be discussed at the first session if appropriate. Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts, although we advise students not to buy anything until after the first session.

What do I need to join the course

This course is for students who have completed the Beginners Modular courses A and/or B or for those with a basic knowledge of the language (minimum 40 hours of study) who want to consolidate or refresh their skills at a Beginners level. This course is not for complete beginners.If you are unsure please carry out our self-assessment test available on www.kentadulteducation.co.uk. The assessment provides a score to help you chose the best course for you. If still unsure, speak to us or to a Curriculum Leader.You can access the class from your computer equipped with a camera and a microphone, from a laptop (where the camera and microphone should be built-in), a tablet or a smartphone. Before each lesson, the tutor may send you by email essential lesson information/handouts for you to consult in advance, and before the class starts, the tutor will have sent you by email an invitation to join, which will be a simple weblink to click.
