This course will be delivered face to face from the Broadstairs Adult Education Centre and is for those with some Tai Chi experience and an interest in maintaining health and mobility in a supportive environment.
Each session begins with a round of warm-up exercises followed by individual movements or a short sequence from the 46 form Yang style Tai chi Chuan which is soft, gentle and designed to improve balance, body tone and mental wellbeing. This course will also include a complete review of standing energy and breath-moving movements covering both Zhan Zhuang & Ba Da Juen which will focus on healing particular health problems such as back pains, headaches and breathing impediments. We will also include a variety of seated sessions covering a range of visualisation and meditation techniques.
This course focuses mainly on the maintenance of everyday health and wellbeing while encouraging a preventative rather than a curative approach to the challenges of ageing through a range of options including body awareness, improved breathing and mental wellbeing.
It is worth noting that Tai Chi forms may vary, as may the style of teaching depending on your tutor.

By the end of the course students will:
1. Be able to practise sections of the Tai Chi form relative to their own health needs.
2. Have improved their understanding of the philosophy of Tai Chi & Chi Kung and their places in Oriental medicine.
3. Be able to understand breath moving and related visualisation techniques.
4. Have a basic understanding of the five organ system and experience of Chi Kung exercises for the inner organs.
5. Be able to select from a range of exercises, movements and techniques to compliment and support their own particular health requirements.
