About this course

This course will introduce you to the basic principles of drawing, developing your skills and confidence.

At the end of the course you should be able to :
- use more than one medium on one picture
- identify and place objects in a space
- gain accurate proportions and perspective
- use different mark-making techniques.

If your course is held at Ashford Gateway in the evening, please note the following:- The main door to the building closes at 6pm Mon-Wed and 8pm on Thurs. The building can only be accessed via the side door which is situated to the left of the main entrance at the corner of the building. There is an entry system via a buzzer.

How will I be taught?

Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques.
Regular feedback from your tutor to monitor progress.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please bring an A4 sketchbook and a variety of pencils - 2b and 6b -a sharpener and an eraser.
Paper will be on sale along with anything else you may need.

Further Drawing courses. The tutor will advise.

What do I need to join the course

No prior knowledge/experience is required.
This day course in Ashford is for beginners and those with a little experience who would like to develop their skills and improve their ways of observing when drawing.

About the Tutor: Helen Easter

Helen is an experienced tutor who has been teaching for 27 years. She delivers courses on painting and drawing, printmaking, papier mache, paper pots. Her main work entails images mixed with the abstract and she uses methods and techniques in all mediums. Helen has exhibited and sold her work in galleries in the UK and abroad. Her paintings have been used for book covers and greeting cards. She is involved with the British Fencing Association where her fencing images have been used for prizes; she also does commissions from fencers and was featured in The Sword magazine in January 2013. She has designed murals for Kent Children Libraries and has curated shows for Shepway council and Metropole Galleries which were featured in the Sunday Times as best shows outside London.
