About this course

This course will enable you to better understand your overlocker; why threading correctly is so important, understanding the various tensions, how each of the stitches works, sewing with or without the blade, using stretch fabrics, sizes and types of needles to use with each type of fabric, etc. The course will give you the confidence to use your machine more fully.

How will I be taught?

Craft courses provide an opportunity for students to learn and develop skills and techniques. Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstration, instructions, one-to-one tutorial guidance, group discussions and critiques.
It is important to note that craft courses are practical, requiring a degree of manual dexterity.

What do I need to bring with me?

Your overlocker, all attachments, feet and power leads. Thread, scissors, pins, and any fabric you have difficulties sewing with or that you're not sure about.
We have several overlockers available to use, please contact the centre when booking if you would like to use one so that we can ensure enough are made available on the day.

What can I do next?

Sewing Bee courses such as 'Make your own clothes' or 'Soft Furnishings'

What do I need to join the course

Everyone is welcome.
For those who wish to gain understanding of their overlocker or would like to try using one before purchasing their own.
