How will I be taught?
Craft courses provide an opportunity for students to learn and develop skills, techniques and understand how to design for a chosen craft to a higher level. You will be encouraged to look at the work of other craftspeople and artists, both contemporary and historical and keep a sketchbook/notebook to record goals/ideas, processes and progress. There will be one to one guidance, group critiques and self-assessment against individualised learning outcomes stated for the course.
Our courses are taught by qualified and experienced tutors most of whom are practising craftspeople.
What do I need to bring with me?
Scissors, tape measure, ruler and note pad but most weaving equipment is provided. Apart from pens and a note pad please do not buy books or equipment before the start of the course. Details will be discussed at the first session or if necessary your tutor will send a list a week before the course starts. You need to purchase yarns for your own projects the tutor will talk you through how to do this.
What can I do next?
Further Weaving or Craft courses with KAE.
What do I need to join the course
All students are welcome on this course who have an interest in yarns, colour and design but the tutor will assume you have no experience of Weaving.
It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or another adult please speak to the Curriculum Leader for the course.
