About this course

This hands-on course will introduce you to materials and techniques used for Glass Fusing and in particular coaster making. You will explore basic glass cutting, patterns and specialist glass such as: Dichroic glass, stringers, Frit, Millefiori and marble effects.

• Produce effective coaster designs.
• Demonstrate an understanding of Glass pattern and design.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the practice and methods used in Glass fusing and design.
• Demonstrate technical skills in glass cutting and arrangement.
• Use materials and equipment safely and effectively.

Please note after the course your pieces will be fired, once they have been done we will contact you to arrange collection from the center.

How will I be taught?

A tutor will guide you through the workshop with demonstrations, along with one-to-one feedback, allowing you to develop technical proficiency and confidence in basic glass fusing, jewellery design and creation.
Apart from you keeping a workbook, the tutor will discuss your progress with you and will help you to record this in an Individual Learning Plan.

What do I need to bring with me?

Materials will be provided. Novices please do not purchase specialist tools before the start of the course. Glass cutters will be provided.
Health and Safety:
You must wear closed toe shoes
All masks, gloves and ear defenders will be supplied if necessary
No drinks are allowed in the studio because of the possible risks of contamination.

What do I need to join the course
